Compensatory levels for 2021/22 in the employment tribunals

The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal rises from £88,519 to £89,493 as from 6 April 2021.

This year also saw the limit on a week’s pay used to calculate redundancy payments and the unfair dismissal basic award, among other things, increase from £538 to £544.

The minimum wage for a person aged 23 or above is rising from £8.72 per hour to £8.91 per hour April 2021 (also called the Nation Living Wage).  The threshold to being entitled to this rate has been lowered from 25 to 23 years of age.

The rate of maternity, paternity and adoption pay rose to £151.97 in April 2021.
